XenoestrogensXenoestrogens are harmful substances from the petrochemical industry with an oestrogen-like effect in the body. Sound dangerous? That’s because it is.

They are known as damaging ‘fake hormones’ that we better avoid because too much exposure can lead to an oestrogen dominance. And that is the cause of many hormonal imbalances and ailments.

This is how you can avoid xenoestrogens

If you know where xenoestrogens are found, you can also limit your exposure to them. Remember the tips below and you’re halfway to a better balance of hormones.

1. Opt for plant-based protein sources. Animals are also exposed to xenoestrogens and as such environmental toxins are stored in their fat, which then lands on your plate and in your body. A superior source of plant-based protein is seitan. Per 100 grams, it contains the same amount of protein 100 grams of beef would contain.

2. Store food in stainless steel, pottery or glass. Plastic contains phthalates, the infamous plasticizers. When released due to heating, they have the capability to disrupt hormones in the body.

3. Buy toothpaste without fluoride. Fluoride supposedly strengthens your teeth and repairs cavities. However, fluoride can easily accumulate in the body, where it can cause nausea, diarrhoea and stomach aches. Children are especially sensitive to this. Fluoride has also been linked to a premature start to puberty.

4. Choose food packaged in glass and not in plastic or cans; Plastic contains plasticizers and tin has a coating that contains BPA. Especially when purchasing oils such as coconut oil or olive oil, is it important to leave behind the plastic bottles and opt for the glass alternative.

This is how you can get rid of excessive xenoestrogens

Avoiding all environmental toxins and xenoestrogens is impossible. They are, unfortunately, unavoidable by-products of our industrial life. What we absorb we can, however, dispose of if our cleansing organs do their job properly. To help them, you can carefully choose your diet:
