NIULIFE gives people a new life thanks to coconut oil and a wonderful range of coconut products

Niulife ("New Life") is an Australian brand that gives people in small communities on the poor Solomon Islands a future thanks to coconut oil. At the start of this project the orchids were still growing in the neglected coconut trees. But gradually the villagers who yearned for more quality of life discovered a meaningful way out of their impasse. Thanks to a simple coconut hand press, a smart invention of Dr. Dan Etherington, the villagers can manually squeeze coconut oil without electricity. A delicious and honest coconut oil is the result. 100% of Niulife's profit goes back to the villages and their huts became houses.

In addition to Fair Trade coconut oil, Niulife now offers a wide range of food and care products based on coconut oil. Pure and of super quality. Niulife is a life-changing brand with a heart!

How does Niulife give back to the people of the Solomon Islands

100% of profits from all Niulife products go towards running the DME® VillageForLife™ empowerment programs. These equip small communities living in remote villages with everything they need to set up their own independent, sustainable & vibrant local economy. Thanks to you, they now have the power to enjoy a richer, fairer quality of life.

How Niulife started

Dr. Dan Etherington was a professor at the University of Canberra, Australia. With his retirement coming up, the university asked him for his expertise as an agricultural economist for one final project. His mission was to study the agricultural opportunities of the poor Solomon Islands and to formulate proposals and ideas to improve the quality of life of thousands of villagers.

In 1997, the coconut oil hand press became a fact and with a feeling of euphoria, Dr. Dan saw the islanders produce their own coconut oil without needing electricity. Gradually people, who craved better life quality, found a meaningful way out of their impasse.

Niulife: Five-Time Award-Winning Fair Trade Project

  1. Because the coconut oil hand press creates income opportunities for entire villages, the Solomon project was crowned as the ‘sustainable world project’ of 2000 in Germany
  2. In 2006, Japan awarded Dr. Dan a ‘Gold Award’ for rehabilitating the Solomon rural economy with the production of extra virgin coconut oil.
  3. In 2008, Dr. Dan was welcomed into the Order of Australia for his innovations in small-scale coconut processing and his contributions to sustainable agriculture and economic development in the South Pacific region.
  4. In 2018, Dr. Dan also received the ‘Golden Award’ from the organisation Moral Fairground, for his tireless efforts in ethical business.
  5. For years, this coconut oil has been certified as Fair Trade by FairTSA.

For a quarter of a century, Kokonut Pacific (Niulife)has been helping rural communities make products from coconuts. And now they're being sold around the world.
