SPF 50 sun spray for the whole family

This sun spray is the ideal sun care product for all members of the family. High factor – SPF 50 for the protection of all skin types, even the very sensitive skin of children

  • Handy spray
The product is liquid and therefore easy to spread out across the skin

  • Protection against UVB and UVA
The SPF factor gives an indication of the UVB protection. The ‘anti-UVA’ protection should be at least 1/3 of the ‘anti-UVB’ protection. The Biosolis products have an average ‘anti-UVA’ protection factor between 20 and 25, which is more than the required minimum.

  • With titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. But no nano-particles
Nano particles are smaller than 100 nm and can penetrate the skin anywhere. Very little is known about the effect of the nano-particles. With Biosolis you avoid taking any risks.

Sensitive skin types and children’s skin will benefit from using a sunscreen or sun tan lotion with a high SPF factor. The SPF factor gives an indication about the UVB protection – the short-term protection.

UVB rays are the sunrays that reach the outer skin layers and can cause the red, burned effect after immediate exposure to sunshine without any protection. (UVB rays do not penetrate through glass). A high SPF factor offers great protection and can help you avoid unnecessary pain and discomfort.

UVA rays can damage the skin in the long-term. The damage is not immediately visible because these sunrays penetrate through to the deeper layers of skin. There they can cause early aging of the skin and wrinkles.

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide vs chemical filters

Mineral filters, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, reflect sunlight and are, therefore, immediately active. Biosolis has these mineral filters in their SPF 50 sun spray without making use of nanotechnology: the dimensions are 100 – 150 nm. (Nano filters are <100 nm)

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide both offer a broad spectrum of protection, are not destroyed by the sun and do not have any damaging influences on coral reefs. It is recommended to regularly apply sun spray, because the product is removed by sweating or swimming.

Chemical filters work differently than mineral filters. Chemical filters penetrate the skin, where they neutralize sunlight with a chemical reaction. The effects or consequences of long-term use of these chemical filters is not known yet. What is known is that they contribute to the destruction of coral reefs. There is also a strong suspicion that chemical filters disrupt the endocrine system.

Sun cream protects your skin only when used often enough

The AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) recommends to apply the amount of sunscreen needed to fill a shot glass (approximately) across the entire body. This is also the same as a well-filled palm.

Moreover, make sure to apply enough sunscreen to the areas of the body which are most exposed to the sun, such as your shoulders, your ears, chest and feet.

According to the AAD, we have the tendency to use too little sun cream on our faces – because we want to spread out sunscreen too much to avoid having white residue on our skin or to apply make-up. The face, therefore, is often not sufficiently protected. Try to ensure that a minimum of 1 teaspoon of sunscreen is applied to the face.

Remember to repeatedly re-apply sunscreen

For most sun care products, it is preferable to apply your sunscreen anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes before going outside and into the sun. This gives your skin enough time to absorb and process the ingredients so that you are protected against the damaging UVA and UVB rays.

The sun care products from Biosolis distinguish themselves by immediately protecting the skin right after applying.

Re-apply every two hours, after swimming and also after sweating. Don’t forget that daylight means sunlight. Even in the autumn and the winter your skin is exposed to sunrays. Some light protection can prevent early aging and premature wrinkles.

Sunscreen is not waterproof, but water resistant

Whether you are swimming or exercising rigorously in the sun, both water and sweat mix with the sun cream on your skin and weaken its protection. Sun cream is, therefore, never water proof even though this is often stated on the labels of sun care products. Waterproof in this context refers to the fact that the sun tan lotion contains petrochemicals and closes off the pores of your skin.

Water resistant is used to indicate how long the sun cream remains on wet skin, after how much time the sun cream should be re-applied. This is on average between 40 and 80 minutes.

Sunscreen has a limited shelf-life

A sunscreen loses its strength as time goes by. On most sun care products, the shelf life is mentioned. It does you well to remember to check the ‘expiration date’, as to ensure that your skin is optimally protected. If you’re using sunscreen the whole year-round, then it should not be an issue to finish the tube before it has reached its expiration date.
