Gunpowder Green from Numi is lightly fermented organic green tea. After the harvest, the tealeads are steamed to prevent oxidation.
Gunpowder Green has its name thanks to the typical form of this green tea. After the leafs have been steamed, they are rolled into little balls or 'bullets'.
As soon as the tea 'bullets' make contact with warm water, the tealeafs unfold themselves and release their rich and full flavour.
Gunpowder Green tea is just like the other kinds of tea from the Camellia Sinensis. The difference between white tea, green tea, black tea, oolang tea and pu-erh tea is the preparation process the picked leaves go through. To make green tea, like the Gunpowder Green from Numi, the tealeafs are steamed and the natural fermentation process that starts immediately after the harvest is kept as short as possible. This production process guarantees that the catechines, which gives green tea its typical colour and taste, are kept within the tealeafs. With other types of tea, the leafs are fermented. The duration of the fermentation process is what defines the type of tea and tea flavours are created.
