The soft and very aromatic almond shaped Kalamata olives are named after the place of the same name in the south of Greece. Only olives from this region may be sold as Kalamata olives. Thanks to the mineral-rich rocky soils, lots of sun, drought and strong winds, the large olives develop juicy flesh and a crunchy skin.
