Raw cocoa and raw chocolate: organic divine food for instant energy
The Maya Indians prepared 600 AD. already a bitter drink of cocoa , which the Aztecs also later drank and called Xocoatl. They associated cocoa with Xochiquetzal, the goddess of fertility. Xocoatl is said to give strength, because of the caffeine in the cocoa. Cocoa also contains limited amounts of theobromine and tryptophan , substances that have a stimulating effect on the brain.
