The preparation of this seitan “mince” takes even less time than the preparation of ground beef.
Allow the seitan to rest at room temperature before using. This will make separating it much easier. (Seitan from Bertyn sticks together because it is vacuum packed.)
Cut the package open above a plate and separate the seitan by hand.

If necessary, you can make your minced seitan even finer by mashing it with a fork. Your seitan is now ready to be used.
This seitan mince has already been seasoned with leek powder, a mixture of peppers and nutmeg. You don’t have to season it yourself before using it, but you can of course if desired.
Add it to your tomato sauce for spaghetti Bolognese or lasagne. Mix Seitan with curry powder, veganaise and shallots for a delicious vegetarian curry tapenade or use it as a protein rich filling for your quesadillas or tacos.

Those who eat all kinds of foods love it too, because Seitan mince is tasty, easy to make and offers a healthy alternative to any type of ground meat. In comparison to the meat equivalent, Seitan mince from Bertyn has a very low fat content (only 1,5gr per 100gr of meat).
Seitan is a rich source of vegetable-based proteins: 21 grams of protein per 100 grams of Seitan. On a daily basis, we need an average of 1 gram of protein per kilo of body weight.
