The Thor bedspread brings warmth, softness and beauty to your bed. The spread has a thicker density than the Nebula Throw/Shawl or the Sisteron Plaid, because it is a double weave. It is more sturdy than a blanket. Its name “Thor” is therefore quite fitting.
Because this bedspread is made of wool and is a double weave, the spread is used as a quilt instead of comforter. Wool is insulating: in the winter it keeps the heat underneath the spread, in the summer it is cooling.
The bedspread has a white border which is attached by the coming and going of the shuttle during weaving. This movement of the shuttle gives every woven piece of fabric from Teixidors the recognizable Teixidors edge, a Teixidors trademark.
The Thor Bedspread is an exceptional wool product from Teixidors, because the Spanish weaving mill has only one loom large enough to make this bedspread. The loom is 3 metres wide and only a handful of weavers are strong enough to operate it. Not only is the weaving process time consuming and labour intensive, but also the preparation of the loom takes time, skills and knowledge. At Teixidors it takes approximately two days for two weavers to prepare the loom. And then the weaving still needs to start.
This bedspread pairs beautifully with the Sisteron Pillow Covers which complete each bedroom with beautiful decorative pillows.
Thor Bedspread is a natural product. This woollen bedspread is made of 100% ecological sheep wool.
The best way to freshen the throw is by placing it on a drying rack outside in the fresh air. Make use of a cold, frosty day to freshen the throw. The wool fibres open and will remove any odours.
When spilling on a woollen product, it is sufficient to simply dab the liquid off. Wool contains wool grease or lanoline which repels water and dirt.
For dried up or absorbed stains, it is not recommended to machine wash or dry your Thor Bedspread. Bring the bedspread to the dry cleaners or try the following:
For smaller stains: Add lukewarm water with, in case necessary, a dash of wool detergent onto the stain. Do not rub. Rinse with lukewarm water. Let dry on a drying rack. Do not wring.
For larger stains: Place the bedspread in lukewarm water mixed with wool detergent, and let the stain soak. Once the stain has disappeared, place on a drying rack. Do not wring.
