White Rose, An Organic White Tea with the Soft & Sweet Taste from Rosebuds
Numi’s White Rose Tea is an organic white tea with a soft and sweet taste. Moreover, it has a soothing effect and the flavouring of rosebuds. Numi uses the whole tealeaf, like with many of their other products, thus creating a top-quality fresh, loose tea.
What is White Tea?
White tea is made from the youngest buds of the Camelia Sinensis tea plant. The buds are picked before the tealeaves open up. All types of tea, in general, are made from this tea plant. The differences in taste, however, are determined and created by differences in fermentation and production processes. Green tea, such as Numi's Gunpowder Green, usually undergoes minimal amounts of fermentation. Black tea, on the other hand, such as Numi's Aged Earl Grey, is completely fermented. White tea tealeaves are barely fermented. This allows the nutrients and antioxidants to remain well preserved and it is why white tea tastes entirely different.
White tea has a soft, subtle and sweet taste that will become stronger the longer you let the tea brew. In contrast to black and green tea, white tea will not become bitter even if you let it brew for longer periods of time. White tea’s soft, flowery and sweet taste makes white tea less suitable to drink cold or to be used to make iced tea. The flavour and taste becomes less prominent as temperature of the drink decreases.
White Tea is Anti-ageing
White tea is known as the anti-ageing tea. It fights the enzymes that break down collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are both very important to keep the walls of your body’s cells flexible. The more flexible the cell walls, the better the ‘communication’ between your cells will become and therefore the healthier and younger your body will feel. Collagen and elastin are also crucial for the elasticity of your skin. The more collagen in the cells, the less wrinkles one can expect to have.
White tea contains caffeine but significantly smaller amounts than green and black tea. Amongst tea types, white tea also contains the highest amounts of theanine, an amino acid that has a calming effect on the nervous system. Therefore, when consumed the tea allows for the body to relax.
Numi’s White Rose tea is ideal to drink at any time of the day. Because the tea is low in caffeine and has a relaxing effect, you may want to drink it in the evening before bedtime.
