What is the Triman logo?
The Triman symbol or logo stems from French legislation (since 2015). The logo indicates whether a product or its packaging is (partly) recyclable. It also clarifies which part of the packaging can be recycled and how this material should be sorted.
With the Triman the French government wants to encourage their population to recycle better. According to the French government, the logo symbolises the responsible citizen (black silhouette) who separates his waste in different ways (three black arrows) and thus helps with recycling (round arrow on the left). The three arrows refer to the three sorting categories: non-recyclable, recyclable and glass. Only if the product falls within the last two categories will it carry the logo. The symbol was created as a French replacement for The Green Dot.
In addition to the Triman logo, further information is provided on how something should be sorted and recycled. Packaging or parts of products that are made of glass, and can therefore be sorted and recycled separately, are marked in green alongside the icon. Everything else is marked yellow. These products or parts of the packaging may then be placed in the general 'recycling bin'.
On which products will you find the Triman logo?
In general the Triman logo is required on products sold in France if they are recyclable and belong to one of these categories: (household) packaging, textiles, shoes, furniture, tyres and products made from paper. Since 2022, the Triman logo is also obligatory on electronic goods, batteries and similar electrical products.
It is also useful to know that the Triman logo is not mandatory on beverage bottles, such as wine bottles. Of course this doesn't mean that wine bottles cannot be recycled. The French government therefore recommends putting this logo on all bottles that are recyclable so that everyone can easily identify what they need to do with them.
What if you cannot print or find the Triman logo on your products or packaging?
For many companies, it is not easy to print the logo on all the products you sell. An e-commerce business like Amanvida, for example, cannot force its suppliers to print something on their packaging. French law has provided an exception for this. For companies whose products and packaging are all recyclable, it is enough to publish the Triman logo on their website (only valid until January 2022).
Because Amanvida always pays a great deal of attention to the sustainability of our products, we can proudly say that all our products and packaging are partially or fully recyclable.
