Organic sandwich spreads, jam and nut paste , it can be so tasty! A fresh slice of bread, deliciously topped with cheese or a creamy spread (nut paste, vegetable spread, jam). Toppings are usually sweet or savory. We spread our sandwich to enrich the neutral taste of bread and you get extra nutrients with it. But how do you keep it healthy? In any case, make sure there is sufficient variation between different types of bread and toppings. That is tasty and you get different nutrients every time. Healthy sandwich in the lunch box? Try a vegetarian spread, nut paste or jam
Toppings don't have to be boring. Variety is the key to a tasty sandwich! Choose especially vegetable toppings.
- Jam is a classic. Choose an artisanal or homemade jam for your sweet sandwich. Many jams these days are made with less sugar and are a delicious way to eat fruit. Jam is not only delicious on a sandwich, but also with a cheese dish or as an alternative sauce with your salad or stir-fried vegetables.
- Nut paste : for example 100% peanut butter, cashew paste or a mix of different nuts. It is recommended to eat a handful of nuts (approx. 25g) daily. The health effects of nuts are obvious. Then it is just as useful to spread nut butter on your sandwich.
- Legume spread : for example hummus
- Fruit : banana, strawberry, peach, ...
- Vegetables : raw, grilled or as a spread
You can occasionally alternate with these non-vegetable options: eggs, Cottage cheese, mozzarella, cottage cheese, fish, (fried) chicken or turkey fillet, roast beef. It is recommended to eat meat only once a day. So either on the sandwich or with your hot meal. Tasty!
