The Story Behind Alia Skin Care

The natural cosmetics line Alia skin care was created in 2017 by pharmacist Debora Pollina , born in Trapani and active for several years in the field of natural cosmetics and food supplements. Her aim is to highlight the treasures and traditions of Sicily and to combine three personal elements in one project: her passion for natural cosmetics , her academic title and her love for her native country, Sicily. With the name Alia (Arabic for high and exalted ) it is clear that the quality bar is very high with her. The products contain a high concentration of active ingredients from Sicily: such as organic essential oils , plant extracts of prickly pear and pomegranate, vegetable oils such as extra virgin olive oil and sweet almond oil. Each product also features images of unique maiolica decoration (a typical Sicilian art form) , created by the local Trapanese artist Giuliana Cordio, in her artisan workshop "Di cotte e di crude" in Trapani.

Natural and authentic raw materials such as olive oil and essential oils

Rich, emollient olive oil from a centuries-old olive grove in Contrada Belvedere is a crucial ingredient in Alia skincare's natural cosmetics, as it deeply nourishes the skin and regulates the skin's hydration system. Organic essential oils of sweet almond blossom, lemon, orange and pomegranate can also be found in Alia Skin Care's body care products. Pure poetry for our senses! Finally (for the body scrub) whole Sea Salt from the salt pans of Trapani is used. When the salt pans are filled with seawater in spring, it is allowed to evaporate in the heat of the Sicilian summer sun and the strong African winds. When the salt begins to crystallize, the fiore del sale are the young salt crystals that form at the top. This salt is completely unrefined and untreated.

Sicilian maiolicas by Giuliana Cordio

Giuliana Cordio designs and creates on ceramic all the maiolica pieces that can be seen on the labels of each individual product and made exclusively for Alia skin care. Following the West Sicilian tradition of painting on maiolica, Giuliana's artworks for Alia skin care are characterized by four distinctive elements that make each maiolica a unique and precious piece: yellow acanthus leaves, surrounding filigree, copper green leaves and a cobalt blue background. Before being printed on the packaging, Giuliana Cordio's Sicilian maiolicas are made according to the traditional process: each maiolica is decorated and then baked in the oven. Finally, it is glazed and polished before being used for the graphic design.

The colors and raw materials depicted on the maiolicas embody the personality of Alia skin care and combine dream, art and Sicily. This is also the vision of Alia Skin Care.

The care line of Alia Skin Care consists of nine natural skin and hair products: a nourishing shampoo , a clarifying shampoo, a hair cream , face mask , anti-aging face cream , body oil , cleansing cream , moisturizing body cream and shower-bath skin care . Only top quality ingredients were used for these formulas, with natural essential oils, floral waters and Vitamin E as an antioxidant. And free from silicones, parabens, mineral oils and petrolatums, artificial perfumes and dyes and animal derivatives. Natural cosmetics, which are also vegan!
