The story behind Perla organic Chocolate

Perla Organic Chocolate was born in Quito in 2017. Carol Marcial, who was born in the province of GuayasIn, made her dream come true in that year and became the female pioneer in the chocolate world of Ecuador with her own chocolate factory. Fabián Marcial and Carola Verdesoto, Carol's parents, manage the Agua y Tierra family farm in the province of Manabí. They grow the organic Arriba Nacional cocoa beans on their cocoa plantations according to a circular economy system, which reduces the impact on the environment. The name Perla was chosen because the pearl is known as a fertility symbol, giving positive energy to women and expressing its exclusivity and purity, which also fits perfectly with the Perla Organic Chocolate brand. The brand has been awarded several times, including the International Chocolate Awards in 2018 and Green Latin America Awards in 2020.

Raw chocolate puts Cocoa Women in charge in Ecuador

Until recently, the production of (raw) chocolate in Ecuador was almost exclusively - from start to finish - led by men. That is why the project Mujeres del Cacao al Frente ( Cocoa-Women in charge) was started. This project encourages women to empower themselves, negotiate directly about their cocoa and change the culture little by little.
