Tomato ketchup with a soul

Mario Bauer, a modern nomad living in Vienna, wanted to produce an organic ketchup with five like-minded catering professionals and also holiday friends. This journey started by sifting through old cookbooks, vintage magazines and the internet in search of old recipes. After a year, one super recipe was distilled from an entire collection. In 2015, Mario invited his brothers to travel to Vienna and set out his plan in a smoky shisha lounge. They decided to continue the Curtice Brothers story. Then they started cooking, experimenting and tasting together and learned how to squeeze more than 15 tomatoes into one small bottle. What emerged was no ordinary tomato ketchup, but a world sauce with a soul.

Six friends traveled a total of 9,000 km in 2015 for a good steak and chips. Ehren flew over from New York, Andreas from London, Enrico from Zurich and Mario and Philipp from Luxembourg, while Christoph was stuck on the autobahn to Vienna. The trunk full of organic tomatoes, onions, garlic and red chili peppers from Tuscany. The following days were spent preparing the ketchup for the aforementioned steak. And a company was founded: Curtice Brothers.

The ketchup further owes its rich taste to balsamic vinegar, apple, onion, star anise, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, mustard seeds and white pepper. This authentic ketchup recipe uses only fresh organic produce, sourced from local Tuscan certified organic farms. The ketchup contains about 50% less sugar and salt than its industrial counterparts.
