Do you want exquisite fragrances, but you don't want leaky perfume bottles in your handbag, stains on your clothes or your skin, nor all the synthetic additives that are typically present in expensive liquid perfumes? Then go for solid perfume, which has a balm-like texture which you simply massage gently into your skin with your fingers. Small, but beautiful, you can easily carry your perfume cream around with you las a scented gem in your bag or coat pocket and on your travels. You also no longer have to deal with that spray nozzle that uses alcohol, some of which ends up in the ether and is harmful to the environment.

What is solid perfume?

Solid perfume is made of vegetable oils, beeswax and essential oils from plants, herbs and flowers, which are melted down together to form a solid blend. By leaving the mixture to cool, it solidifies into a solid shape. It melts whenever you touch the creamy texture with warm fingers and you then massage this liquid gold into your skin on your most important pulse points, such as your wrists, on your neckline, on your temples, behind your ears or on the inside of your elbows. Back in the days of Ancient Egypt people were already using similarly scented salves. Perfume in the form of a balm continued to exist all over the world until the XIII century, when the process of alcohol distillation took off. In 2021, solid perfume is hip again. And rightly so, because the absence of alcohol and synthetic additives makes this creamy form of perfume much gentler and better for the skin.

9 reasons why perfume cream is more preferable than regular perfume

Nourishing. A perfume cream not only provides a wonderful fragrance, but is also a form of aromatherapy thanks to the use of essential oils, and it's also gentle and nourishing for your skin because of the beeswax/oil.
Fragrance lasts longer. You get to enjoy a solid perfume for a longer time. The fattier the substance of a perfume, the longer you will smell it.
Excellent value for money: a solid perfume easily costs half the price of liquid perfume, because the packaging is much simpler, smaller and contains fewer ingredients.
Practical. It is easier - and less risky - to travel with a solid perfume. It can be carried in hand luggage, takes up less space and will not leak.
Innovative. Although the concept itself has been around for millennia, a lot of cosmetic brands have rediscovered it. Why? Consumers are starting to get bored and are becoming more aware.
New ritual etiquette. Instead of pressing a pump on a glass bottle, you use a solid perfume more like a lipstick. It's a sensual way of consciously applying perfume, with a balm-like texture, to your skin.
Safer. Solid perfume contains no alcohol, so you don't have to worry about your skin or clothes getting pigment spots or stains in summer. A perfume based on oil or wax is milder and often even nourishing.
Fewer ingredients/free from artificial additives. Solid perfumes usually contain only 5 to 10 ingredients and are free of phthalates - endocrine disruptors - allergens, artificial dyes and synthetic musks.
Environmentally friendly. Solid perfume does not need a (glass) bottle or pump, so the packaging is usually small, simple and recyclable. You also avoid spraying alcohol into the environment.
