In our webshop you’ll find 3 different brands of coconut oil: Amanprana extra virgin, Cocoslove and Kokovita. Why do we sell these oils? How are they different? Is there a difference in flavour? Read our comparison of these coconut oils.

Our selection is based on more than the following 3 pillars, but if you want to quickly understand the differences between the coconut oils in our webshop, these pillars are a great place to start:

  • # 1/ Amanprana Extra Virgin is the pioneer in Europe. This is why the label reads “Nr. 1 Original 2005”. In 2005, Amanprana was the first to launch an extra virgin coconut oil onto the European market.

  • # 2/ Cocoslove is a younger brand. The brand was created only two years ago. It is a great coconut oil for young families with a smaller budget. The mild flavour of this coconut oil makes it perfect for adults and children who dislike strong coconut flavours.

  • # 3/ Kokovita is the best odourless coconut oil currently on the market. The oil is deodorized but not bleached or further refined. It is processed as little as possible for a deodorized coconut oil. In contrast to most other odourless coconut oils, Kokovita is also sold in glass. This is always an added bonus.

Coconut Oils from Amanvida Are not Bleached nor Filtered and Still Contain Lauric Acid and Caprylic Acid

Looking for the very best coconut oil? Then check the origin of the oil, look for an ‘organic’ label on the packaging and try to find out the temperature at which the coconut oil is pressed and the extent to which it has been processed. Because every time something is processed it loses some of its natural nutrients.

Amanprana extra virgin coconut oil is not processed. The oil is not bleached, not filtered and not deodorized. On the plantations in the Philippines and Sri Lanka, the ripe coconuts rest for at least 45 days allowing enzymatic processes to take place. These processes ensure that the coconut oil derived from the coconuts is easily digestible and has a pleasant coconut flavour. Amanprana extra virgin coconut oil is pressed at a maximum temperature of 45°C. It is, therefore, raw and the nutrients that are naturally present are preserved within the oil. Your body recognizes this as food as food should be: pure, natural, organic and nourishing.

Cocoslove and Kokovita have undergone minimal processing to make the flavour more enjoyable for a different group of consumers

Not a fan of coconut flavours? Then Cocoslove and Kokovita are perfect for you. Cocoslove is partially deodorized and has a mild, subtle coconut flavour. Kokovita, on the other hand, is completely deodorized and has a neutral flavour.

Cocoslove and Kokovita ensure that you don’t have to compromise on quality. The fact that these 2 oils liquify at 21°C is an important detail: the lower melting point suggests that no refining processes took place and that nothing was added to influence the texture, fragrance, flavour or shelf-life of the oil. These are minimally processed coconut oils that still contain its natural nutrients, like lauric acid and caprylic acid. Although they contain a little less than the Amanprana extra virgin, the natural nutrients are still there.

Flavour Differences In Coconut Oils Are an Indication of Other Differences

The rule you should keep in mind when purchasing your food is simple: the less the product was changed from its natural state, the better. When coconut oil is minimally processed, like Cocoslove and Kokovita is, you can assume that alongside the coconut flavour some nutrients were unavoidably removed from the oil as well.

Consequently, the temperature at which coconut oil is pressed also has an influence on the quality of the oil. Enzymes, as well as the still unknown and miniscule ingredients, burn when the oil is heated. Oxidation can also occur. When the oil oxidizes it means that a chemical conversion takes place, during which the coconut oil develops toxins.

Cocoslove and Kokovita are pressed at higher temperatures than the extra virgin coconut oil from Amanprana: Cocoslove and Kokovita are pressed at maximum 100°C. This is still far below the oxidation point of 180°C.

In comparison to other coconut oils on the market, Cocoslove and Kokovita are minimally processed. In comparison to Amanprana Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, there are some remarkable differences.

The more information you have, the more confident you can be that your purchase is the right one for you. You know where your coconut oil comes from, how it was ‘made’ and why you’re paying the asked price. If you don’t have this information, let yourself be guided by 3 aspects: your health, your preferred flavour and your budget.
