Orange blossom water , also known as orange blossom hydrolate, with its mild and dilicate scent is obtained from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium). In Chinese medicine and in ancient times, this water was already used for its soothing properties and it is still used in natural medicine today. It is an ingredient with a long history, especially in North African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, and has diverse applications both in the culinary world and beyond.
The flowers distilled for Ladrôme hydrosols come from organic farming or from wild picking in unspoilt natural areas. Ladrôme's flower waters or hydrosols are obtained through slow, long-term steam distillation. During this process, the flower water and essential oil are collected in two different layers: the oily phase on the surface and the water phase below. The water thus extracted contains the same active molecules as the essential oil, but in much smaller quantities. Flower water is therefore much milder and easier to use and less aggressive than essential oil.
