Organic nutritional yeast flakes from Mattisson are a vegan flavour enhancer with a delicious cheesy-nutty flavour. Sprinkle these light yellow flakes over your pasta as a vegan alternative to grated cheese or use them to make a vegan cheese sauce. You can also sprinkle them on your soup to make it more savoury or add a crispy coating to your oven dish.
Nutritional yeast flakes are made from the Saccharmyces Cerevisae fungus. Mattisson cultivates its fungus i.e. yeast on pure organic molasses, a syrupy by-product of sugar or sugar cane production. After growing and harvesting, the yeast is washed and dried in order to deactivate it. This means that the nutritional yeast loses its rising properties and is suitable for a yeast-free diet.
