Coconut water: a refreshing and healthy beverage

Coconut water naturally contains high levels of magnesium, potassium and calcium. Important minerals for keeping up our body's reserves. It also contains very little sugar and almost no fat. It is therefore a valuable natural thirst quencher and refreshing beverage. Loved by many and ideal for those wanting something different from fizzy drinks, fruit juices or plain water.

Coconut water with turmeric: Turmeric is one of the most widely-used medicinal herbs in Chinese medicine, and is known for its many health benefits. Mixed with the coconut water, you get a refreshing and delicious drink with the unusual, slightly spicy taste of turmeric. 

Water from the King coconut: sweeter than ordinary coconut

Base Organic Food's coconut water comes from the yellow-coloured King coconut variant that is specific to Sri Lanka. Sweeter than ordinary coconuts. The water is immediately packaged on site, without any additives.

There are more than 100 different colours and sizes of coconuts. A coconut naturally falls from the tree into the water to reproduce elsewhere. This way the coconut palm spread along warm coastal areas throughout Asia.

What is coconut water?

Coconuts are good for you and very versatile. Coconut water is the liquid inside a coconut. This is not the same as coconut milk, which is made from grated coconut pulp. Coconut water is not an extract from the coconut itself, but is a natural substance with its own unique composition and taste. The advantage of coconut water is that it contains plenty of vitamins and minerals. This not only makes it tasty, but nutritious, too.

Coconut water is produced when a coconut absorbs rainwater. Any bacteria and contaminants in the rainwater are filtered through the shell fibres. What remains behind in the coconut is pure, natural and sterile water. As the young coconut develops, the coconut tree adds vitamins and minerals.
